The Jonk Entrepreneuren Luxembourg Asbl held the 7th edition of the final of the My First Enterprise (MFE) programme on Thursday 13 June 2024 at Deloitte Luxembourg.

In total, 61 teams from 15 secondary schools participated in this 2023 / 2024 edition; the twelve finalist teams were selected on the basis of files submitted and analysed in advance by a jury, made up of experts from the professional world.

Complete a project with €50

Over a period of ten weeks, teams made up of three or four students had a starting capital of €50 that they tried to grow through a purchase-sale activity of small products, a service offered or a product manufacturing activity. All students enrolled in 4th grade, or similar classes, could participate in the programme.

Develop managerial skills as early as possible

The objective of the programme has been to develop entrepreneurial skills among young people, to give them the opportunity to take their first steps in business management by allowing them to work in a group, to manage a real project, to be in contact with suppliers and consumers and prepare them for future projects such as Mini-Enterprises.

To help participants develop their sales techniques, the My First Enterprise teams once again had the opportunity to sell their products or services at the Cloche d'Or Shopping Centre on 9 May 2024. In total, 148 students, supported by their teachers, presented their products - often homemade - and were able to impress the customers with their creativity and professionalism.

Jury impressed by the quality of the young people’s presentations

The jury, composed of four members, namely: Anne-Marie Solvi, CEO at Paul Wurth Geprolux; Jean-Luc Bermes, Team Manager Corporate Banking at Spuerkeess; John Psaila, CEO & Managing Partner of Deloitte Luxembourg; and Maryam Khabirpour, Audit Partner of Deloitte Luxembourg, had the difficult task of deciding between the three winning teams during this 7th edition, whose level presentations were impressive.

In order to determine the winners, the members of the jury evaluated the files submitted beforehand, the originality of the project as a whole and the presentation during the final.

First prize was awarded to the CEA Sweet team from Lënster Lycée International School. The three winners (Adriana Florez, Chloe Gwynne and Ella Havrenne) impressed the jury not only with their convincing presentation, but also thanks to their close collaboration with the Sea Shepherd Luxembourg organisation for which they raised funds and thus raised awareness in their school community.

Second prize was awarded to the Premium Bracelets team (Carolina Neto, Mafalda Tavares, Soraya Bray and Yriana Marques), four students from the Ecole Privée Marie-Consolatrice. The secondary school girls made a profit of more than €1,000 from their sale of bracelets in various designs. They also convinced the jury with their team spirit.

Third prize was awarded to the My Wax Bear team from Bouneweger Lycée Luxembourg (Gabriella Dos Santos Rodrigues, Laura Fabrizio, Léa Teixeira and Liliana Fortes de Graca) who made bear-shaped candles and soap. The jury highlighted the strong identity of their brand, as well as their communication strategy.

This year, the jury also awarded a special mention to the House of Resin team from Maacher Lycée for their excellent ability to overcome challenges and find creative solutions.
