According to Luxembourg's employment agency (Agence pour le développement de l'emploi - ADEM), the number of available resident jobseekers registered with ADEM stood at 14,259 as of 31 July 2022.
Compared to June 2022, this represents an increase of 621 people; compared to July 2021, this represents a decrease of 2,548 people or 15.2%. The unemployment rate, adjusted for seasonal variations, calculated by STATEC, is 4.7%.
The number of job seekers is down for all categories of job seekers, with the exception of job seekers whose have been registered for less than four months, which are up by 6.9%.
The number of new registrations is on the rise again. Indeed, 2,251 residents registered with ADEM during the month of July 2022, an increase of 87 people or 4% compared to July 2021. New registrations for this month include 164 registrations from beneficiaries of temporary protection (refugees from Ukraine).
The number of resident job-seekers benefiting from full unemployment benefit fell by 1,207 people, or 14.6% over one year, to 7,032. The number of beneficiaries of employment measures stands at 4,221 and is below the level observed in July 2021 (down 216 people, or 4.9%).
During the month of July 2022, employers declared a total of 3,965 vacant positions to ADEM, which corresponds to an increase of 13.9% compared to July 2021. The number of available positions stood at 13,028 as of 31 July 2022. The increase over one year is 34.1%.
