On Tuesday 24 June 2025, Luxembourg’s Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister for Media and Connectivity, Elisabeth Margue, officially inaugurated in Blaschette the first site of the National Integrated Radiocommunication Network for Security and Emergency Services (RENITA) to be secured using a hydrogen fuel cell.

Launched in 2022, the "H2 Powerbackup" project aims to strengthen the energy autonomy of strategic antenna sites within RENITA. According to Luxembourg’s Department of Media, Connectivity and Digital Policy, the integration of hydrogen fuel cells allows these sites to operate autonomously for more than 72 hours, ensuring the continuity of critical communications during major crises or widespread power outages.

Ten sites, including the one in Blaschette, have been equipped with this "innovative technology", marking a "significant step forward in national resilience and security”. The initiative forms part of the government’s approach to addressing energy and security challenges through technical solutions.
