On Tuesday 11 February 2025, LuxConnect, Luxembourg’s largest data centre operator and provider of an extensive dark fibre network, announced the signing of an Indefeasible Right of Use (IRU) agreement with LuxNetwork, a Luxembourg-based telecom operator specialising in business services.

According to the partners, the agreement extends LuxNetwork’s national network by more than 400 km using LuxConnect’s dark fibre infrastructure, with a guaranteed service period for ten years.

This new partnership strengthens their existing relationship for the next decade through an IRU contract. This strategic collaboration allows LuxNetwork to leverage LuxConnect’s expertise and robust infrastructure while ensuring a diverse range of connectivity services.

Luc Lutot, CEO of LuxNetwork, stated: “This partnership is part of our growth strategy, supported by our financial partners as announced last December. Choosing LuxConnect was an obvious decision due to their expertise and reliability. We are delighted to reinforce this relationship. This synergy enables us to undertake large-scale projects to establish our position as a key player in connectivity diversity, serve international clients, and enhance Luxembourg’s attractiveness on the European stage.”

As the partners assured, this collaboration grants LuxNetwork an irrevocable long-term right to use LuxConnect’s dark fibre infrastructure. This 400 km fibre optic expansion will allow LuxNetwork to offer next-generation connectivity solutions, enabling services at 400 Gbps.

We are proud to continue our collaboration with LuxNetwork. This strategic partnership marks a major step forward for Luxembourg’s competitiveness. By strengthening interconnections with key international hubs, we are not only supporting the local economy but also reinforcing Luxembourg’s position on the global stage,” added Paul Konsbruck, CEO of LuxConnect.

The joint efforts of both companies are expected to not only enhance connectivity within the country but also increase interconnections with major European hubs such as Brussels, Frankfurt, Paris and Amsterdam. This reportedly meets the demand for high-speed connections and supports LuxNetwork’s strategy to expand into new international markets.
