On Thursday 10 October 2024, Luxembourg's Ministry of the Economy, together with the National Cybersecurity Competence Centre (NC3) and with the collaboration of Luxinnovation, announced the upcoming launch of the second call for projects of the Luxembourg Cybersecurity Innovation and Development (LU-CID) funding programme.

This programme is aimed at co-financing the creation of innovative tools, solutions and services by startups and SMEs in the Luxembourg cybersecurity ecosystem. This second call for projects will be open from 1 November to 31 December 2024 and follows the first call for projects that took place in the first half of 2024.

Co-funded by the European Commission under the Digital Europe Programme (DEP), this action is part of the Commission's initiatives to provide financial support for third parties (FSTPs), such as startups, scale-ups and SMEs in the adoption or development of digital innovation. Projects will be funded via the support mechanism for research and development (R&D) projects. For each successful project, a maximum grant of €60,000 can be awarded. A co-financing share of 20% for small businesses and 30% for medium-sized businesses will be required.

LU-CID targets Luxembourg SMEs and startups wishing to implement projects aimed at creating innovative cybersecurity tools and services, and introducing new types of solutions on the Luxembourg market. Projects submitted to LU-CID must meet at least one of four objectives: to support the development of startups in the field of cybersecurity through the creation of technical or non-technical solutions; to promote the creation or growth of local companies developing affordable evaluation and testing services; to support the establishment of cybersecurity services with a sustainable open-source model; to promote the development of innovative approaches to improve the cybersecurity skills of SMEs.

Luxembourg's Minister of the Economy, SMEs, Energy and Tourism, Lex Delles, stressed: "With this second call for projects, we confirm our commitment to strengthening the cybersecurity ecosystem in Luxembourg. Cybersecurity is a key pillar for the future of our economy, and this programme aims to actively support our startups and SMEs in developing innovative solutions tailored to their needs. I am convinced that these projects will contribute to strengthening the competitiveness of our companies while consolidating our country's role as a leader in cybersecurity in Europe."

Detailed information on the eligibility conditions and the project submission process will be available on the NC3 website.

NC3 and Luxinnovation can provide free assistance for setting up projects.

A presentation and Q&A session is scheduled to take place on Friday 8 November 2024 at 11:00 at the Luxembourg House of Cybersecurity in Luxembourg-Gare (122 Rue Adolphe Fischer, L-1521). To participate, register here before Tuesday 5 November 2024.
