The PwC Luxembourg Cybersecurity and Privacy Days came to a close on Thursday 28 October 2021, with the announcement of the winner of this year’s pitching competition: Keyless Technologies.

The annual event, which returned this year with both live and digital events, attracted over 400 attendees and saw various speakers share their expertise on cybersecurity and privacy matters.

The event, which once again was part of Cybersecurity Week Luxembourg, took place across four days. This year's chosen theme was "chaos"; topics covered included business alignment, third party risk, complexity versus simplification, automation, data protection and data sovereignty. Live events (held at PwC's Crystal Park) included a workshop, entitled “Living a cybersecurity incident through the use of Virtual Reality technology”, which simulated a real cybersecurity crisis situation. A new, practical addition was the dedicated stand in conjunction with Streff, a moving and storage service provider based in Strassen, where people could shred their old hard disk drive or mobile phone securely and safely. Those who did so went back home with what was left as a souvenir and a greater understanding of how corporate data should be destroyed.

Distinguished speakers from all over the world joined this year's event, representing thought leaders such as Tine A. Larsen (Chair of the National Commission for Data Protection - CNPD), Christina Lekati (Social Engineering Trainer and Consultant at Cyber Risk GmbH), Paul Oor (Security and Data Protection Consultant at Shared Experiences), Mirko Ross (CEO & Founder of asvin.io), Andrea Garcia Beltran (UK & International Head of Cyber at RSA), Philip Zimmermann (Distinguished Engineer at AET Europe BV) and Paul de Hert (Law Professor at Tilburg University). They shared the stage with companies that engaged in a pitch competition and presented how their innovative solutions meet cybersecurity or privacy challenges.

Participants also had the opportunity to participate in business matchmaking, join interactive breakout sessions and take part in a networking forum with their peers and industry leaders.

Keyless Technologies won the Cybersecurity & Privacy Solution of the Year Award 2021 with its Keyless Authenticator™ and Keyless SDK™.

Koen Maris, Advisory Partner and Cyber Security Leader at PwC Luxembourg, commented: “At the close of 2021’s PwC Cybersecurity and Privacy Days, I wish to extend a huge thank you to all of the participants including the speakers and the finalists in this pitching competition— Keyless our winner— as well as Cymptom, Decentriq, Hoxhunt and Nymiz for taking up the challenge. Also, for everyone who attended live or digitally, thank you for your participation. I truly hope to see you next year at Crystal Park". He continued: "We really covered a good variety of topics in order to provide food for thought for the CISOs of the local market. The theme this year was a relevant one - focussing on chaos and changing times. We are living in a world of constant change, and COVID has been a further catalyst, especially concerning data. [...] How businesses can navigate through this chaotic situation was at the very heart of this year's PwC Cybersecurity & Privacy Days 2021".
