On Tuesday 7 June 2022, Arendt & Medernach, a leading independent business law firm in Luxembourg, announced the appointment of Jean-Luc Putz as a partner at the firm's Business Crime and Employment Law, Pensions & Benefits teams.

Mr Putz is an expert in criminal law, particularly in matters of financial and economic crime, cybercrime and also issues of money laundering and corruption. He also has in-depth knowledge of labor law, both individual and collective.

Before joining Arendt, Mr Putz was a member of the Luxembourg Bar from 2002 to 2007. He then sat as a judge in the criminal division for more than ten years and worked in civil law for four years. He returned to the Luxembourg Bar in 2022 to join Arendt.

Mr Putz commented: “I look forward to joining Arendt as a Partner to further develop the existing criminal law practice there. In this vast field, the brilliant team with which I will work will focus on the financial and economic aspects. I will also collaborate with the teams specialized in forensic investigations and compliance of Arendt".

He continued: "A not insignificant part of business law is accompanied by criminal sanctions, and the public authorities are tending to step up their repressive action. To be convinced of this, one need only think of the growing requirements in terms of the fight against money laundering, the heightened public awareness of corruption and tax justice, or the worrying rise in computer crime".

Mr Putz concluded: "Within the team, we will cover the full range of services relating to criminal law and compliance requirements, from criminal risk awareness to professional and objective support in the context of criminal proceedings. At the same time, I would use my expertise in labor law”.

Jean-Marc Ueberecken, Managing Partner, said: “In the criminal law team, Jean-Luc will continue Arendt's philosophy, offering clients a complete service from one place. He will also bring his rich knowledge of labor law and use his extensive experience to lend a hand to Arendt's Employment Law team”.

Arendt & Medernach’s international team has 380 legal professionals, representing clients in all areas of Luxembourg business law.
