Golf Planet Events have confirmed details of the Car Avenue Invitational Golf Cup by Henri Leconte & Friends which will take place on Tuesday 24 September 2024 at the Golf de Luxembourg – Domaine de Belenhaff, just outside Junglinster.
The fourth edition of this annual event brings together personalities who are friends of tennis champion Henri Leconte and guests of the event's partners for a charity game of golf.
After retiring from the tennis courts, the former world number five, Henri Leconte, developed a passion for playing golf. A regular on the golf courses of Luxembourg, where he now lives year-round, Henri has teamed up with Golf Planet Events to organise this tournament bringing celebrities and golf enthusiasts together. It is therefore organised in "guest-am" mode, with each personality "paired" with three amateur golfers to form a team of four players. In addition, many activities, both on the course and around the "19th hole" hosted by Bernard-Massard, will make the day unforgettable.
The personalities confirmed to participate include the multiple karate world champion Christophe Pinna, the double Olympic fencing champion Brice Guyart, and the winner of the Paris-Dakar 1993 and multi-titled rally driver Bruno Saby. Also participating will be Belgian comedians Bruno Taloche, Freddy Tougaux and Renaud Rutten, and the multiple Belgian judo champion Christel Deliège, as well as the famous opera singer Paul Gay, the ice dancer Gwendal Peizerat and the actress Gwendolyn Gourvenec. Other names will also be added to this list of guests.
The event starts at 10:00 with registration, handing out scorecards and welcome packs, with a breakfast buffet available.
A warm-up is scheduled for 11:30, with a presentation of the personalities participating, team photos and a briefing by Henri Leconte.
The teams tee off from different holes at 12:30, playing both shotgun and scramble rules, with various prizes offered by different sponsors (longest drive, nearest to the pin,...).
Entertainment will be provided for non-golfers at around 16:30, and the prize-giving is scheduled for 19:30 during a cocktail reception.
The proceeds of this year's tombola, held towards the end of the event, will go towards the Kriibskrank Kanner Foundation which helps sick children and their families.
Participation costs €850 and registration is open at https://birdiemag.lu/evenements/invitational-golf-cup-by-henri-leconte-friends-2024/
