Saturday 25 September 2021 marked the official inauguration of the Stade de Luxembourg, the new national football and rugby stadium.

Fernand Etgen, President of the Chamber of Deputies, Lydie Polfer, Mayor of the City of Luxembourg, and Dan Kersch, Luxembourg's Minister of Sports, kicked off the opening ceremony by welcoming His Royal Highness the Grand Duke.

This was followed by official speeches, the presentation of a football and a rugby ball to young athletes, various musical and sporting events, dance performances and a laser light show.

The evening ended with the cutting of a cake bearing the image of the Stade de Luxembourg as well as the presentation of a gift box to Grand Duke Henri. The present included a jersey for Prince Charles, bearing the inscription "Charles 1”, as a souvenir of the inauguration of the new stadium.
