Following Friday evening's 2-1 home victory over Lithuania in the UEFA European Championships Qualifiers Group B, the Red Lions had another home game on Monday evening, this time against Ukraine who drew their opening game with Portugal 0-0.

Luxembourg battled throughout and took the lead on 34 minutes by a close-range effort from Turpel. Five minutes before the break, however, the visitors equalled through Tsygankov. In the second half, the match looked as if was heading for a raw, only for Luxembourg to concede an own goal, credited to Rodrigues, in the third minute of extra time.

Luxembourg slip to 2nd in the table on 3 points, with Ukraine on 4 points, and ahead of Portugal on 2 points, following their draws with Ukraine and Serbia.
Luxembourg's next match will be on 7 June when they will play Lithuanie away in Vilnius.
