Luxembourg's National Youth Service (SNJ) has announced the launch of the 10th edition of the "Crème Fraîche" video competition for young people, in collaboration with the National Audiovisual Centre (CNA) and as part of the Luxembourg City Film Festival.

The “Crème Fraîche” competition is divided into two categories:

- The first category “Kuerzfilm” invites young people to submit their short film of maximum 15 minutes duration, the genre and subject of which are defined by the young people. A jury will select the short films screened during the “Crème Fraîche” evening of the Luxembourg City Film Festival 2021 (6 March 2021) and will designate the winners. The CNA is offering an escape room experience to the winning team.

- The second category "Trailer" concerns the production of a trailer of maximum 90 seconds, based on an imaginary film. A selection of the best trailers will be presented to the public who will designate the winner during the “Crème Fraîche” evening on 6 March 2021. During 2021, the SNJ will produce, in collaboration with the winner, the film based on the trailer.

The competition is open to young people aged 12 to 30 years from Luxembourg. Young people can be supervised and advised by adults. The deadline for submitting contributions is 21 February 2021.

Regulations detailing the terms of the competition and a guide with health recommendations concerning COVID-19 can be downloaded from the website of the National Youth Service: www.erliewen.snj.lu/concours-creme-fraiche

due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the “Crème Fraîche” evening will not take place as usual at the Kinépolis Kirchberg cinema, but will instead be streamed as part of the Luxembourg City Film Festival on 6 March 2021 from 16:30. A "best of Crème Fraîche” short films from the last ten years will also be presented to the public.
