The 12th edition of CinEast, the Central and Eastern European Film Festival in Luxembourg, will take place from 3 to 20 October 2019 in various venues in Luxembourg City (Cinémathèque, Neimënster, Ciné Utopia) as well as other towns in the country (Vianden, Esch sur Alzette, Dudelange).

Following the success of last year's edition, which attracted over 10,000 people, the CinEast festival will be returning next month with a 12th edition. This year, the festival will be celebrating Lithuania with a thematic cycle called "Down the Walls!" to mark the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. In total, the festival programme boasts over 100 screenings, featuring more than 65 feature films and 50 short films (mostly subtitled in English) from 20 ex-communist countries.

Alongside film screenings, the festival will offer various specific events, such as screenings, film debates, short film marathons, children's programmes, theme nights, an exhibition photography, gastronomic events and five concerts, including the opening concert of Shantel & Bucovina Club Orkestar on 4 October and the Artur Dutkiewicz Trio jazz apero in Neimënster on 13 October.

All the details of this year’s festival will be unveiled on Wednesday 18 September 2019.

The CinEast 2019 festival is organised by CinEast asbl in collaboration with the Cinémathèque, Neimënster, Kinepolis Group and others. Its main partners are the Ville de Luxembourg, Luxembourg's Ministry of Culture, Film Fund Luxembourg, Docler, Holding, Kulczyk Investments, L'Œuvre Grande Duchesse Charlotte, Orange and Luxair.
