The 26th edition of the Fête de la Musique in Dudelange will be held on Saturday 15 June 2019, in the city centre from 13:00.

Some 80 bands, solo artists and DJs from around the world will once again transform this southern Luxembourgish city into one big party. Among this year's announced artists are British punk-folk artist Frank Turner and his band The Sleeping Souls, Irish rock band The Coronas and local acts Seed to Tree, Go By Brooks and Schëppe Siwen, to name but a few.

Organised by the City of Dudelange in collaboration with the opderschmelz regional cultural centre, the Fête de la Musique in Dudelange has become a growing success and today attracts an audience from far beyond Luxembourg's borders. With a local and international line-up ranging from rock to pop and from electronic music to blues, the Fête de la Musique is a key event for music lovers' calendars.

The bands and musicians will perform on ten open-air stages and in four bars and cafés in the city, inviting music lovers to stroll through its streets and alleys to discover its diverse and eclectic musical programme.  In addition, various food stands will be set up across the city centre. To reduce waste and provide a sustainable alternative to plastic cups, the Fête de la Musique stands will be offering reusable cups this year. Visitors can buy the cups and have them cleaned free of charge at the stands after each use and take them home as a souvenir after the event. Traditional cups will still be available this year, but are going to be replaced by a more sustainable alternative at next year’s edition. At the catering stands, plastic trays and cutlery will already be completely replaced by more sustainable materials.

Preceding the event, on Friday 14 June at 20:00, the Amis de l'Orgue de Dudelange and the organ classes of the Music Schools of Dudelange (class of Gilles Leyers) and Bascharage (class of Paul Kayser) will hold their traditional prelude in St. Martin's Church. The programme also offers a visit to the church’s organ.

Programme

On Saturday, the festival will kick off with performances on the Folk & Blues Stage. Supported by Garage Roby Cruciani, this stage will introduce Djujuu, Layman's Law, Marc Welter's Joint Bunch, Ramblin' South, Schëppe Siwen and the talented Screaming Fields winner C'est Karma.

In the afternoon, the Parc Stage in the Emile Mayrisch park will be reserved exclusively for young musicians from the local music clubs and neighbouring towns, as well as for the Regional Music School. The talented Armenian accordionist Mher Mkrtchyan will perform at 13:00, closely followed by children and youth groups from 14:00 onwards. At 15:00, the young audience is also invited to participate in an entertaining musical treasure hunt.

From the early evening onwards, the Acoustic Stage, which has been moved to the Emile Mayrisch park due to construction works, will offer acoustic sets by Chlorophyl, Andrea Arpetti, Stelise and Lata Gouveia. Meanwhile, the Youth Stage, managed by Dudelange’s "Maison des Jeunes" in collaboration with the National Youth Service (SNJ) will be dedicated exclusively to young musicians, including LBV Band, CT & Southboy, Charel & Sergej, Parity, LTEtt BAND and, later on, a performance by the less young but highly energetic Blues Gangsters.

Sticking to the local tradition, the Why Not Stage will offer a varied programme with various combos of the Regional Music School, under the direction of Pit Dahm, Joël Heyard and Erik Teuwens. From 17:20, the stage will open for Beyruth indie band Postcards, Don Gio, Maka MC, Strysles, Falling Serenade, Versus You and Napoleon Gold.

This year, the Planet Stage on Nelson Mandela Square, right next to the Dudelange Town Hall, will welcome young national talent Chalid (fka Adrian), the musical project of singer-songwriter Adriano Lopes da Silva, who convinces with his captivating voice and introspective lyrics. Also performing will be young Austrian singer Mathea (The Voice of Germany 2016 participant), Irish multi-instrumentalist Ryan Sheridan (who will present his current album "Here and Now" in Dudelange) and Luxembourg indie band Seed to Tree, which just released its new album "Proportions" and has has been active on the European scene for more than ten years.

Opening the Main Stage of this year's Fête de la Musique will be local quintet Go By Brooks, followed by Irish hit band The Coronas, German pop singer Lea (who will present her second album "Zwischen meinen Zeilen"), Frank Turner and The Sleeping Souls and Luxembourg band Mad Fox, a sextet largely inspired by the classic rock of the 1960s and 1970s.

As always, all concerts at the 26th Fête de la Musique will be free of charge.
