The 2019 edition of the Festival de Wiltz, now in its 67th year, will showcase different countries, cultures and musical genres, without ignoring the Haute-Sûre region of Luxembourg.

The festival, taking place from 6 to 25 July 2019, will see Wiltz host pop, indie, jazz and classical artists from Luxembourg, the Greater Region and beyond. Having reflected over the past three years, the organisers (COOPERATIONS asbl and Culture Wiltz) decided to take the festival in a slightly different direction, offering a broader spectrum of musical and cultural events. This year will feature eleven such events, in collaboration with new partners.

On 6 July, this year's festival will kick off with the Luxembourg premiere of “Zorbas”, the latest production of new festival partner Theater Trier. The ballet "Zorbas", from Mikas Theodorakis, creator of the famous "Sirtaki", has received high acclaim from critics and audiences alike. Accompanied by the Theater Trier Orchestra, the modern performance combines dance with an original instumental performance.

On 7 July, younger audiences will have the chance to enjoy German-language children's musical "Jan & Henry" – with a school session on 8 July. This will again be a Luxembourg premiere, this time that of the new production by Theater Lichtermeer.

On 10 July, Jazz queen Dee Dee Bridgewater will return to the stage in Wiltz with the show from her “J’ai Deux Amours” tour. The amphitheatre will host two other major international acts: British trip-hop pioneers Morcheeba (in collaboration with Den Atelier), on 18 July, and Austrian top-selling artists Bilderbuch, on 21 July. Morcheeba will present their new album "Blaze Away", whilst Bilderbuch will play an open-air concert featuring songs from their new album “Vernissage my heart”.

Also on 18 July, the festival will showcase performances from Luxembourg-German Electro Synth Pop artists Say Yes Dog, Swiss Urban Folk band Black Sea Dahu and German Alternative Pop artist Alli Neumann. These will be followed by the “Kaz am Sak” show, which combines dance, theatre and music.

Another Luxembourg premiere is planned for 11 July, with a performance of the jazz-tango cross-over “Nomad”, followed on 13 July by the "Waterart Meets Festival de Wiltz" dinner-concert, featuring five orchestras from northern Luxembourg. Entry to this event will be free of charge.

On 14 July, the Wiltz festival will host the Luxembourg premiere of “Scala & Kolacny Brothers”, the Belgian women’s pop choir whose music has featured in Oscar-nominated film The Social Network and series such as The Simpsons and Downtown Abbey.

On 19 July, the “Losers Cirque Company” from Prague will put on the Luxembourg premiere of their show “Kolaps”, featuring acrobatics, music (live band) and movement. The event is suited to audiences of all ages. Following this, Luxembourgish multi-instrumentalist Pit Dahm will present the pre-release of his new album on 24 July.

The festival will conclude with the Luxembourgish premiere of Etta Scollo & Band's "Parlami d'amore", a musical-poetic evening featuring Italian songs on the theme of love.
