On Monday 20 July 2026, Luxembourg’s Minister for the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity, Serge Wilmes, presented certificates to 45 new hunters.

The ceremony took place in the presence of Marianne Jacobs, Head of the Hunting Unit at the Nature and Forest Agency (ANF) and Chair of the Examination Board, and Jo Studer, President of the Saint-Hubert Hunting Federation of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg (FSHCL).

According to Luxembourg's Ministry for the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity, the ceremony marked the successful completion of a demanding training programme designed to prepare future hunters for the many responsibilities associated with hunting. Organised through close cooperation between the ANF and the FSHCL, the programme combined theoretical lessons with practical field training supervised by experienced mentors across Luxembourg's hunting districts.

To earn their diplomas, candidates were required to pass a series of examinations covering technical knowledge, safety, hunting ethics and firearms handling. The ministry said the graduates had demonstrated both their commitment and their readiness to practise hunting in accordance with the rules and values governing the activity.

The ministry further emphasised that hunting carries significant responsibility, requiring “respect for nature, an understanding of wildlife and an active contribution to the sustainable management of animal populations and forests”. It added that hunters play an important role in maintaining ecological balance by supporting forest regeneration, preserving ecosystems and contributing to the supply of local, healthy and sustainable food products.

Minister Wilmes congratulated the graduates, stating: "In the face of the challenges confronting our ecosystems, responsible and sustainable wildlife management is more important than ever. The newly qualified hunters make a valuable contribution to this collective effort. I thank them for their commitment to nature and wish them every success in upholding the values of responsibility, respect and sustainability that define modern hunting."
