On Monday 7 November 2022, Luxembourg's Water Management Administration (Administration de la gestion de l'eau - AGE) announced the launch of “Meine Pegel” app to find out about water levels and floods in Luxembourg.

So far, the website www.floods.lu already provides information in real time on the water levels of 36 stations in Luxembourg. In the event of flooding, flood reports and water level forecasts are available as well. Notification by e-mail or RSS feed is also possible.

The “Meine Pegel” app further expands the range of information. Users can subscribe to measurement stations and define their own threshold at which they wish to be informed. This is an important aspect of self-prevention against flood damage, as each home or building can be affected at different speeds. Notification of critical water levels can help in taking timely precautions.

In addition to current river levels, flood reports from the floods.lu website are also available via the application. Here too, user notification is possible as soon as the reports are officially made available.

If people are generally interested in water levels and water temperatures in Luxembourg streams, users can easily follow them with the app throughout the year.

The app, which has been used in Germany for a few years, does not only contain stations in Luxembourg and Germany, but also stations in the Netherlands and Switzerland. It is now available in Luxembourg in five languages for Google Android and Apple iOS systems.

The Water Management Administration has worked closely with its international counterparts in the field of flood forecasting for more than 30 years. The "Meine Pegel" application is also a non-commercial application developed by public administrations which is intended to serve as a source of additional information to official information sites. At the national level, the Water Management Administration also works with other actors to inform the population as quickly and as accurately as possible in the event of flooding.
