This weekend, the Administration de la Nature et des Fôrets (ANF) will be celebrating its 175th anniversary with a novel new themed event entitled 'De Bësch an d'Stad'

On Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September 2015, the ANF and the Ville de Luxembourg will be approaching the milestone in an unusual way, proposing that, rather than ask citizens to travel to the forest in order to discover it, the woods instead be brought to them.

Luxembourg City will therefore be holding a series of fun, engaging workshops, demonstrations, and exhibitions all centered around the topic of forests. The five main squares of the city centre will each host a different theme reflecting the main tasks of the ANF and the Service du Patrimoine Naturel de la Ville de Luxembourg.

The stands will be as follows:

 - Place d'Armes: De Bësch an d'Leit - Information stands, demonstratives and childrens workshops involving wood carving, a barefoot trail, Monkey Tree.

 - Place de la Constitution: De Bësch an d'Aarbecht - Forest management and forestry work before and now. Ardennes draft horses, tree nurseries, timber certification.

 - Place Clairefontaine: De Bësch a seng Produit'en - Production of various wood products with a mbile sawmill for creating furniture, flooring and drums

 - Red Bridge: De Bësch an d'Waasser - The role of forests in the water cycle, the protection and quality of water

 - Place du Théâtre: De Bësch an d'Natur - Fun presentation of fauna and flora with participatory workshops such as building nesting boxes for bats

 - Place Guillaume II: Spectacular logging competition, only on Sunday 27 from 10:00-18:00.

The official weekend opening will take place at 11:00 on Saturday 26 September 2015, in the presence of the Collàge des Bourgmestre et Échevins de la Ville de Luxembourg, represented by Lydie Polfer and Viviane Loschetter, and Secretary of State for Sustainable Development and Infrastructure, Camille Gira.
