As part of its presidency of the "Pentalateral Energy Forum", Luxembourg hosted a working meeting between the energy ministers of the Benelux, France, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

In the framework of the meeting, ministers agreed to better cooperate in the implementation of the national climate and energy plans for the period 2021 to 2030, a final version of which EU Member States must submit by 31 December 2019. Several priorities for cooperation in the field of energy transition were defined at this meeting: electromobility, development of renewable energies and energy efficiency, strengthening of the security of supply and consumer protection.

In the field of electromobility, a particular focus will be the rapid development of a dense and easily accessible network of electricity terminals without roaming charges to all citizens of the seven associated states. The energy ministers also aspire to better cooperation in the field of renewable energy production and in the field of the security of supply.

The Pentalateral Energy Forum is the first pentalateral electricity crisis exercise. It encompasses regional cooperation in the field of electricity, bringing together the energy ministers of Benelux, France, Germany, Austria and Switzerland and representing a market of 200 million inhabitants.
