A ceremony dedicated to commemorating Veterans Day and paying tribute to all American military service members took place on the morning of 11 November 2023, at the Luxembourg American Cemetery.
“Recent events are a reminder of the immense power of unity and strength, which can be found in our shared commitment to a cause greater than ourselves, to peace and freedom. On Veterans Day, we honour the brave American service members whose courage and sacrifice have paved paths to unity, freedom and peace at home and abroad alike,” said Michael Konstantino, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the United States of America in Luxembourg.
The official attendees included Michael Konstantino, Lieutenant Colonel Mike Lamesch, Head of International Relations of the Luxembourg Army, Colonel Kevin Crofton, Commander of the 52nd Fighter Wing, and Bud D Pettigrew, American Battle Monuments Commission Commissioner.
While Europe observes Armistice Day to mark the end of World War I, Veterans Day in the United States honours the patriotic men and women who have served in the US Armed Forces, recognising their dedication and sacrifices.
