On Wednesday 1 June 2016, the US Embassy in Luxembourg flew the LGTB pride flag on the U.S. Embassy’s compound in Limpertsberg.
June has been designated LGBT Pride because of the Stonewall riots which occurred in June 1969. Every year during his tenure President Obama has issued a proclamation declaring June to be LGBT Pride Month and the State Department has marked it in many ways.
Last year, the US Embassy in Luxembourg flew the LGBT pride flag for the first time and made U.S. Embassy Luxembourg the first foreign embassy to fly the flag in Luxembourg.
This year they rose the flag together with the advocacy group, Rosa Lëtzebuerg, to celebrate their 20th anniversary.
