On Thursday evening, the British Ambassador to Luxembourg, John Marshall, hosted the launch event of the King’s College Alumni association at his Residence in Luxembourg city.
The event was in celebration of both the launch of the association and also in celebration of Duel Day, a duel fought between the Duke of Wellington and the Earl of Winchelsea over the founding of King’s College in 1829.
King’s College in London has a number of famous ulumni around the world, including 16 heads of state or government and 19 current members of parliament. In Luxembourg alone, there are currently no less than 200 alumni of King’s College living here. The aim of the association is to meet, exchange ideas over both professional and personal matters, and also to stay in touch.
The Luxembourg co-ordinator of the King's College London Alumni Association is Simone Schmitt who explained "as a former student of King’s College (2013-2014) I had to notice that currently there is no alumni association of King’s College in Luxembourg. That’s how I got the idea to set one up together with two colleagues, Katia Fettes and Mélody Brunot, also working at Linklaters".
