The Luxembourg Chronicle got the opportunity to talk with the Irish Ambassador to Luxembourg, Peader Carpenter, at last Saturday's Rose Ball.
That event was the first of many in the lead up to the various other St Patrick's celebrations that are being held this week by the Irish community in the Grand Duchy, with other organisations and venues also organising their own St Patrick's events.
As well as the invitation-only reception hosted by Ambassador Carpenter at the Cercle Cité on Wednesday, these include the Irish Club's St Patrick's Party this Friday evening 18 March, and the Ceili organised by the Luxembourg branch of Comhaltas Ceolteoiri Eireann, on Saturday 19 March.
Also coming up are the 1916 Easter Rising Centenary Commemorations which include a Gaelic Tournament scheduled for Saturday 16 April, a lecture by Dr Fearghal McGarry on Wednesday 20 April on the events surrounding the Easter Rising, at the European School in Kirchberg, and the screening of “1916” Documentary film at the Cinémathèque on Sunday 24 April 2016.
