The European Space Agency (ESA) has confirmed the opening of 20 internship positions destined for Luxembourg students.
In order to develop skills in the space sector, a special agreement has been concluded between the Luxembourg Ministry of Economy and the ESA to enable young graduates from Luxembourg to obtain professional experience in different sectors in the field of aerospace.
For the year 2017, ESA offers 20 internship positions to Luxembourg students. Through the Luxembourgish Young Graduate Trainees programme (LuxYGT), students will benefit from valuable experience that qualifies them for numerous positions in the space industry, renowned research institutes and the ESA itself. Throughout their training, the trainees are supported by an experienced tutor, an ESA staff member.
The LuxYGT programme is aimed at graduates of Luxembourgish nationality who have obtained their university degree or Master's degree in the last 2 years (students in the last year of the Master's programme can also apply). Successful applicants will have the opportunity of a 12-month internship with the possibility of an extension of an additional 12 months. The monthly remuneration is approximately €2,400 exempt from taxes (including health and accident insurance).
The ESA has centres with specific responsibilities in different European countries. At present, the posts opened under the LuxYGT programme are available at the ESTEC (European Space Research and Technology Centre), located in Noordwijk in the Netherlands, and at the ESOC (European Space Operations Centre), located in Darmstadt, Germany.
Details of the 20 ESA internship offers, including the skills set and the application procedures can be found on the http://www.gouvernement.lu/luxygt website.
Candidates interested in this professional experience are invited to submit their application form by e-mail to luxygt@eco.etat.lu before 18 September 2017.
