Ville de Luxembourg has announced that Luxembourg-Cents school building, sports centre and underground carpark will be undergoing construction works from Monday 7 November 2016.

In the context of these construction works to extend the school’s facilities, traffic will be disrupted as follows: from Monday 7 November, Rue Léon Kauffman will be blocked off at the section between streets Arthur Knaff and Robert Bruch, in both directions- and parking in this section will no longer be possible since this is to form part of the school’s future facilities; Rue Arthur Knaff will be controlled in both directions; parking on parts of Rue Robert Bruch, Boulevard Simonis and Rue Gabriel de Marie will be controlled as such that parking will be allowed for a maximum of five hours; school bus stops will be temporarily set up on Rue Arthur Knaff.

In regard to the project itself, the extension of the school building will involve a residence downstairs for up to four stays, three classrooms for early learning at garden-level and six pre-school classrooms. Moreover, there will be a multiuse classroom, DIY classroom, library and school kitchen.
The sports centre will include a sports hall divisible in three sections with stands for 150 spectators. It will also be used as a multiuse room which can hold up to 460 people. At ceiling level, there will be a  25x15m swimming pool. On the upper level, there will be a weights room and a dogo.

The underground carpark will encompass 95 car park spaces open to the public.

In total, the project is predicted to cost €51,897,278. The predicted end date is July 2019.
