At a ceremony held at the Red Cross Buttek Echternach last week, nine adult learners received their certificate for the "Family Learning" pilot training course.
Organised by the Department of Adult Training of the Ministry of Education, Children and Youth, in collaboration with the Red Cross Buttek Echternach, the training was conducted from February to June 2016 through four monthly sessions. It covered various topics from early childgood: picture books, drawing and crafts, daily writing, rhymes and syllables, and reading and writing.
The "Family Learning" programme aims to develop the skills of parents to help them better support their children and prepare them for school. Parents hold the primary responsibility in the education of their children, and the first years of a child's life are crucial for learning to speak, write and calculate. Parents can support the development of these skills through games, crafts, singing and telling stories.
