The Ministry of National Education, Children and Youth today released the statistics for the academic year 2015-16, revealing a prediction of 135,890 total pupils enrolled at schools across Luxembourg and its borders.
The report revealed an estimated 47,188 students enrolled in Primary School, as compared to 47,145 in 2014/15. Figures for students in post-Primary studies were forecasted at 41,112, of which 37,390 were in the public sector and 3,722 were in the private sector. The majority were expected to attend a technical course in both public and private schools, at 25,847 and 3,459, respectively.
Cross-border schools were expected to receive 11,828 students, whilst specialised school populations were estimated at 859 pupils.
In the public sector, the gender distribution of teachers in post-primary schools was relatively equal, with 52.1% female and 47.9% male employees, whereas in primary classes this figure was drastically different at 81.8% female and 18.2% male staff members.
Enrollments of full-board at boarding school associations such as Les Internats Jacques Brocquart, AGECOC and Anne were shown to have decreased this academic year, with estimated figures showing 472 pupils enrolled in these forms of school on 1 January 2015, compared with 500 for the same period of the previous year.
Semi-board also decreased in enrollments during the same period, by 5 pupils to 28.
