On Friday 8 November 2024, the DBRS Morningstar rating agency confirmed Luxembourg's "AAA" credit rating, with a stable outlook.

The solidity of the country's public finances and low level of debt are the main assets for the rating, as are the efficiency of its institutions, the prosperity of its economy and its strong external position, the agency highlighted.

According to the world's fourth-largest rating agency, economic growth momentum has strengthened in recent months, with sustained growth in private consumption thanks to government measures to support households. For 2024, the agency noted it expects a more favourable budgetary result than the government's projections.

Luxembourg would also have sufficient fiscal room for manoeuvre to cope with moderate budget deficits over the next few years, Morningstar DBRS concluded.
