A recently published 'Human Capital Report' by the World Economic Forum (WEF) has revealed that Luxembourg holds a nearly 60% share of people in high-skilled employment, ranking first out of 124 countries.
Luxembourg ranked top of the table with 59.6% of the country's workers reported to be in high-skilled employment, followed by Singapore in second place with 54.7% and Switzerland in third with 51.3%.
Prime Minister and Minister of Communications and Media, Xavier Bettel, welcomed the news, stating: "The most valuable commodity in our country is human talent. It is the skills of each person active in Luxembourg which contributes to the attractiveness and international competitiveness of the Grand Duchy".
The Prime Minister continued by stating that the government intends to continue on this path in order to adapt education and training to the diverse needs of the country's economy and society. This will involve special focus on the development and deployment of specialised skills in the field of new technologies, within the framework of the Digital Lëtzebuerg initiative.
