Luxembourg's first "ghost kitchen" (or delivery-only) pizzeria, "Cloud Factory", recently opened its doors in Luxembourg-Neudorf; the restaurant has no tables, instead focussing on offering artisinal Neapolitan pizzas via home delivery and take-away services.

The idea behind Cloud Factory was born in 2019 before quickly materialising in April 2020, when the four founders found themselves in full confinement. At the end of December, Francesco Micillo, Louis Arnoux, Maurice Delcourt and Tom Zigrand opened Luxembourg's first ghost kitchen pizzeria in Neudorf.

Francesco Micillo explained: "This new concept allows us to focus on the product itself. Our goal is to produce the best pizza in Luxembourg. For this we only use the best ingredients and we have developed a special dough, optimised for home delivery and take-away".

While Mr Micillo is responsible for the quality of the artisanal product, brought directly to Luxembourg from his hometown of Naples, the complementary experiences of other partners in the finance, consulting and marketing sectors make them a solid team.

“Our customers are actively researching new concepts and quality products for home consumption. Our project seems to adapt well to the moment ", specified Louis Arnoux, originally from France, who is the consultant and financial manager at Cloud Factory.

Commenting on early customer feedback, Maurice Delcourt, a Luxembourgish independent and marketing manager, said: "Even though we only deliver to Luxembourg City at the moment, customers come to Neudorf from all over the country just to take our take-away pizzas. We are delighted with the high number of positive reactions, but now we have to guarantee a consistent quality and make our customers happy in the long term".

Whilst social media marketing helped contribute to the restaurant's first successful weeks, the challenge now remains to develop a loyal clientele and a long-term commercial activity. "It remains to be seen how our restaurant will develop after the end of the pandemic. Our concept and our spirit remain entrepreneurial and flexible. We believe, however, that people are generally more open to home delivery since the first lockdown. Whether this assessment turns out to be correct or not, we still have big goals and lots of ideas for the future", explained Tom Zigrand, a Luxembourger, bank employee and business development manager.

New pizzas are introduced regularly. The menu includes a variety of traditional pizzas, as well as special homemade pizzas and an offer dedicated to vegans.

Home delivery orders are executed by the new Luxembourg provider Goosty. More information about Cloud Factory as well as take-away orders can be found on www.cloudfactory.lu.
