Melting Pot asbl has confirmed that, after an enforced hiatus last year, the Last Summer Dance Festival is back and its 7th edition will take place this year from Thursday 26 to Saturday 26 August 2021 in the grounds of the chateau in Erpeldange-sur-Sûre.

With a slightly adapted concept, the music and arts festival is being organised under the CovidCheck regime and will consist of four shorter concert sessions, the Last Summer Dance Sessions. Each session will feature concerts, as well as art and workshops, and can accommodate up to 300 visitors per session.

The line-up is mainly composed of Luxembourg artists, but also includes a foreign headliner to close the festival. The four sessions with various musical styles will offer music for all tastes. In the spirit of a relaxed afterwork, Thursday evening will feature electro-pop project ÆM and pop-rock singer Josh Island with a full band on stage.

The next day will thrill fans of urban music, with some promising new projects, including a collaboration between jazz band Jambal and hip hop artist Culture The Kid. To stay in the same genre, Maale Gars will take the stage a few days after her very first concert at the Glacis in mid-August. The headliner for Friday will be CHAiLD with his unique voice, a key figure in the Luxembourg music scene. The night looks promising for revellers, thanks to well-known DJ SpudBencer, who will keep the crowd dancing until midnight.

The musical spectrum does not end there - two sessions will take place on Saturday, the first in the morning with the possibility of enjoying a brunch presented by Nordstad and musically framed by the magnificent voices of Hannah Ida, from IRINA in trio configuration, and folk sounds of the band Halunken.

To end the 2021 edition on a high note, spectators will be able to sing and dance to the sounds of Dessy Mesk. Also on stage will be the energy of the reggae band Le Vibe, followed by Malaka Hostel, a group from Germany who sing in Spanish, German, Czech and English and combines ska, polka, balkan beats, gypsy swing and folk.

True to their mission to encourage the public to actively participate in the festival, the organisers have included a few workshops in the programme. Although reduced compared to previous editions, the workshop offer invites participants to become creative through screen printing (workshop offered by the Seeds label on Friday and Saturday morning, without reservation) and / or to move and create as part of a dance and cartoon workshop by Anne Wirth (for adults and young people from 16 years old on Thursday evening (prior reservation required), for all audiences on Saturdays).

Following a call for participation under the theme (re)connecting, nine selected artists will have the opportunity to show posters produced in this spirit of (re) connection with oneself or with the other, following the period of social distancing from which we are only gradually emerging and which has left its traces. The projects of the following artists will be to be discovered through the entire festival site: Anouk Flesch, Maurizio Fusillo, Anne Gillen, Lynn Kelders, Irina Moons, Daniel Prettenhoffer, Svenia Schreiner, Marthe Viehmann, Julie Wagner.

In addition to this poster exhibition, the artistic component will include a live painting by Alain Welter, an exhibition of sculptures by Lisa Junius and installations by the artist collective Arbeitstitel.

The site will be accessible on condition that a valid CovidCheck certificate is presented. For those who do not have one, there is the possibility of taking a quick test and made available free of charge in front of the entrance.
