The University of Luxembourg has announced the upcoming return of the GoGo Velo cycling campaign to the Grand Duchy.
After the inaugural edition in 2024, the event returns with a new mission aiming to promote and establish cycling as an everyday mode of transport.
The new mission, called "Ride Me to the Moon", will run from Tuesday 22 April to Saturday 31 May 2025 and challenges participants to cycle a combined total of 384,400 km – the approximate distance between Earth and the Moon. A team competition will also take place among Luxembourg's secondary schools and the University of Luxembourg.
For the campaign, the organisers have encouraged all participants to use their bicycles as often as possible for everyday transportation and leisure activities. Additional challenges have been introduced this year to maintain motivation, with participants who complete the tasks entered into a raffle to win a variety of prizes.
To join the initiative, the organisers have invited participants to download the "Radbonus II" app, enter the access code GoGoVelo and register with the University of Luxembourg team. Using the app, cyclists can track their rides throughout the campaign period. Students of the University of Luxembourg can also benefit from free bicycle check-ups provided by d'Haus vum Vëlo.
The 2025 campaign is organised by ProVelo asbl and Klima-Bündnis Lëtzebuerg and supported by Luxembourg's Ministry for Mobility and Public Works. All residents of Luxembourg and cross-border commuters working in Luxembourg are eligible to take part.
