On Thursday 14 April 2016, the volunteers of the international section of the Luxembourg Red Cross organised for the seventh time their "Afterwork Swimming" action from 18:00 to 21:30 at the "Les Thermes" aquatic and leisure centre in Strassen-Bertrange.
This charity sporting event, organised this year in support of unaccompanied refugee minors, offered companies to compete on water activities and win a trophy. The nine participating companies, a total of sixty people, had the opportunity to test their endurance and compete in different aquatic disciplines, trxing to win the title of the best team.
The evening ended with a cheque presentation ceremony at the Red Cross, in the presence of the mayors of Bertrange and Strassen.
A total of €11,500 was raised, including the minimum participation fee €500 per company, in addition to specific support from the following companies: Les Thermes (€2,500), Cargolux (€2,500), Arendt & Medernach (€1,500) and Sodexo (€1,500). The aquatic centre also offered the wine of honour and Deloitte offered trophies (Gravolux) as well as Kohll-Leuck Crémant.
The sum will go to the projects of the Luxembourg Red Cross in support of the applicants for international protection (minors), who have arrived in Luxembourg unaccompanied by an adult.

The participating companies included: Cargolux, Arendt & Medernach, Deloitte, ArcelorMittal, Elvinger Hoss Prussen, Fishstix (ECB), HSBC, Nordea Investment Funds and NPG Wealth Management.
