The Inspectorate of Labour and Mines (ITM) has reported that Luxembourg's Ministry of Labour and the CDEC / IFSB bodies signed an agreement on Monday 17 November 2025 to strengthen prevention in the construction sector.
Luxembourg's Minister of Labour, Georges Mischo, who oversees the ITM, signed a cooperation agreement with the Council for the Economic Development of Construction (CDEC), represented by Chairman of the Board Christophe Thiry, and the Institute for Training in the Construction Industry (IFSB), represented by Chairman of the Board Christian Colas and Managing Director Bruno Renders.
This agreement, concluded for a four-year period and automatically renewable, aims to strengthen occupational health and safety prevention in the construction sector. The agreement is said to align with the government's commitment, as expressed in the 2023-2028 coalition agreement, to reinforce the preventive role of the ITM in a sector particularly exposed to occupational risks.
The cooperation includes the joint development of awareness-raising initiatives and practical tools to support businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), in fulfilling their occupational health and safety obligations. It also foresees enhanced participation by the ITM in the IFSB's training activities, as well as a structured exchange of best practices from inspections.
The IFSB will provide its infrastructure, educational resources and digital tools, and will develop targeted training programmes, including modules dedicated to emerging risks in the construction sector.
By signing this agreement, the partners reaffirmed their shared commitment to promoting a sustainable culture of prevention and contributing to a reduction in workplace accidents across the sector, according to the ITM.
