The Training Institute for the Building Sector (IFSB) and the National Youth Service (SNJ) will this month be offering young people the opportunity to discover their talents and skills through a practical workshop involving a project for a recycling centre for construction waste.
The objective of the 'Level Up - Build Up Your Life' project will be to educate Luxembourg's youth on the opportunities in the construction sector whilst accompanying them through a concrete and realistic future project.
The workshop will accommodate six individuals aged between 16 and 29, who are neither in school nor employment. The project has been organised within the framework of the SNJ's actions surrounding Youth Guarantee, which aims to provide quality offers to young people who have left school or lost their jobs.
Project participants will gain an understanding of the realities of a construction site through the development of a recycling centre, and discover the jobs available in the field of construction. Along each step of the way, technical, organisational, security and environmental aspects will be monitored to demonstrate the skills necessary in different trades.
Another aspect of the project will seek to help individuals develop a sense of responsibility and citizeship through non-formal educational methods. These methods will allow the young participants to develop their social skills and begin to take their future into their own hands.
The instructing team will consist of trainers, educators and representatives from the IFSB and the SNJ. The programme will run from 16 November to 11 December 2015, Monday to Friday, at the premises of the IFSB in Bettembourg, 5 ZAE Krakelshaff.
