Luxembourg's PLOMM Children's Museum has announced that it held a conference entitled "When Ideas Take Shape" on Thursday 22 October 2026, from 18:30 to 20:30, at its premises in Wiltz.

The conference, organised in connection with Democracy and Citizenship Week 2026, taking place from Monday 26 to Friday 30 October 2026, focused on children's involvement in creative and decision-making processes, drawing on the co-creation of the museum's new café with children and architect and spatial designer Sara de Gouy.

During the café project, children were invited to imagine, propose, experiment and develop ideas alongside adults, rather than simply express their preferences. The conference programme included a video documenting the process, featuring contributions from the children who participated.

The event aimed to encourage reflection on how adults, professionals and institutions can recognise children as creative partners whose ideas, experiences and perspectives can contribute to decision-making. According to the organisers, participatory practices allow children to experience how their ideas can influence real decisions while developing communication, listening and negotiation skills.

The conference programme also featured a round-table discussion with: Sara de Gouy, architect and spatial designer responsible for the café; Paulina Dabrowska, Head of Education and Culture at PLOMM; Michael Schenk, Alderman of the Municipality of Wiltz; and eleven-year-old Tilo Penny, accompanied by Sandy Bertolet, an educator at Maison Relais Bettembourg.

The discussion was intended to address co-creation with children, the recognition of their ideas and ways to encourage meaningful and lasting participation in professional and institutional settings.
