The second edition of the European Investment Bank (EIB) Group Forum will take place at the European Convention Center Luxembourg (ECCL) in Luxembourg-Kirchberg on Wednesday 7 and Thursday 8 February 2024.

This year's theme is "European competitiveness in a polarised global context". In a world marked by polarisation, geopolitical tensions, economic insecurity and persistent price volatility, the forum will address how Europe can advance its reform agenda, boost its competitiveness and build a more resilient economy. Issues on the agenda include productive investment, digitalisation, innovative solutions for ecological transition and artificial intelligence.

In addition to keynote speeches and panels, the forum will be the occasion for EIB staff to present the annual Investment Report, which provides an in-depth examination of the challenges in delivering sustainable competitiveness and will be a key element in answering the questions raised.

The opening speeches of EIB President Nadia Calvino and Luxembourg's Prime Minister Luc Frieden are scheduled for Wednesday morning.

On the sidelines of this conference, the Prime Minister will have bilateral meetings with the following forum participants: Albania's Prime Minister Edi Rama, for an exchange on bilateral relations, as well as on the EU accession process; European Commissioner for Climate Action Wopke Hoekstra, to address the promotion of renewable energy and climate objectives at the European level; European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) President Odile Renaud-Basso, to discuss the institution's strategic priorities.
