On 21 and 22 October 2019, the Luxembourg-based Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier (CSSF) and the International Organisation of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) jointly hosted a two-day seminar on the securities sector, held in the Grand Duchy.
The seminar focused on the supervision of anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT) for the Securities Sector and brought together 50 representatives and speakers from 37 ordinary or associate members of IOSCO.
One year after the publishing of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) RBA (risk-based approach) Guidance on the securities sector, the objectives of this event were to discuss the key components and challenges of a Risk Based Supervision and discuss best practices in order to promote supervisory convergence.
Participants had the opportunity to exchange on these topics with representatives of the IOSCO, EUROPOL and FATF.
