Luxembourg's Minister of Finance, Pierre Gramegna, stated on Tuesday that Luxembourg is ideally placed for the FinTech revolution. With 150 companies in Luxembourg engaged in ICT, eConmerce and financial services, the Grand Duchy is ideally positioned to follow the United States in becoming a global FinTech player.
Minister Gramegna was speaking at the Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry (ALFI)'s 24th Global Distribution Conference 2015 which is being held over two days at the Philharmonie in Luxembourg-Kirchberg with over 700 delegates attending from 27 countries in total.
The conference also addressed the current situations and experiences of other jurisdictions, including China and Brazil. Chairperson Freddy Brausch wrapped up the morning's session and stressed that alternative sources of capital need to be secured to finance SMEs. We also need ti take stock of regulation changes globally, with an opportunity for collaboration and dialogue. Luxembourg should be promoted as a centre of excellence for risk management.
