Luxembourg non-profit organisation Citizens for Ecological Learning and Living (CELL) recently announced details of five new entrepreneurial projects designed to address local challenges.
In Junglinster on Tuesday 13 May 2025 and in Echternach on Tuesday 20 May 2025, Boost Lokal Lëtzebuerg, a project established by CELL, held events which each brought together more than 30 citizens in an effort to foster collective involvement and establish local initiatives in the area.
As reported by CELL, each event gave rise to five participatory projects built around the key themes of circular economy, social innovation, third places, local production and distribution. The events are intended to be part of a comprehensive approach to participatory ideation and reflection.
According to CELL, Boost Lokal Lëtzebuerg is inspired by the Start-up de Territoire movement in France and aims to bring together citizens, entrepreneurs, municipalities, local authorities and associations to co-create meaningful initiatives “rooted in the reality on the ground”.
Prior to the events, Boost Lokal Lëtzebuerg visited several municipalities in the east of the country - Niederanven, Junglinster, Consdorf, Beaufort, Berdorf and Echternach - to gather residents' concerns and priorities. The challenges identified during the open discussions and workshops were then integrated into a co-creation process, providing continuity between the needs expressed by participants and the actions planned in both Junglinster and Echternach.
Project Manager for Boost Lokal Lëtzebuerg, Magali Medinger, said: “We noticed a real desire to recreate connections, to connect with each other, locally and regionally. Creative evenings are a tool to support citizens in these initiatives.”
CELL announced that these projects will receive six months of support, helping them to “move from idea to action and contribute to concretely transforming the regions” and advised that project leaders in the Eastern region of Luxembourg who wish to collectivise or strengthen their own initiatives can still join the programme until the end of June 2025.
