The University of Luxembourg's Gender Equality Office and Espace Cultures, with the support of various organisations, will organise a special concert to mark International Women's Day in March 2025.

The inVISIBLE Women Quintet will showcase the works of (still often forgotten) women composers during this musical soirée at the Mudam Auditorium in Luxembourg-Kirchberg on Saturday 22 March 2025, from 19:00 to 21:00.

The programme features the works of:

  • Amy Beach (1867-1944), an American composer and pianist, and one of the first successful female composers in the United States;
  • Clara Schumann-Wieck (1819-1896), a German pianist and composer, Schumann was one of the most distinguished pianists of the Romantic era;
  • Lili Boulanger (1893-1918), a French composer and the first woman to win the Prix de Rome;
  • Henriëtte Bosmans (1895-1952), a Dutch composer and pianist, known for her chamber music and orchestral works;
  • Mel Bonis (1858-1937), a French composer who wrote over 300 pieces, including works for piano, organ, chamber music and orchestral compositions;
  • Line Adam (born in 1972), a contemporary Belgian composer known for her works for various instruments;
  • Louise Farrenc (1804-1875), a French composer and pianist and professor at the Paris Conservatory;
  • Lou Koster (1889-1973), a Luxembourgish composer who wrote a variety of works, including songs and chamber music.
