On Thursday 26 January 2023, Kinepolis in Luxembourg confirmed that James Cameron's sequel "Avatar: The Way of Water" has become the most viewed film at Kinepolis cinemas in Luxembourg in recent years.

Since its release on 14 December 2022 in Luxembourg, no less than 65,000 cinemagoers have had the opportunity to embark on a journey to the planet Pandora in one of the Kinepolis cinemas. This has resulted in the film dethroning "The Lion King" (1994) from the most popular film.

The film continues its momentum and could break other records soon.

At Kinepolis, cinemagoers have the choice to watch the film on a range of technologies including 3D, HFR, Ultra laser and 4DX, all immersing the viewer in the fantastic universe of the Na'vi.

The second part of the series launched by James Cameron is already ranked 6th on the list of all-time world box office successes (James Cameron's Avatar and Titanic are both in the top 3).

Synopsis: Jake Sully and Neytiri have become parents. The plot takes place ten years after the events told in the original feature film. Their idyllic life, close to nature, is threatened when the Resources Development Administration, a dangerous non-governmental organisation, returns to Pandora. Forced to leave their natural habitat, Jake and his family travel to the reefs, where they believe they will find asylum. But they come across a clan, the Metkayina, with customs different from theirs...
