On Monday 19 October 2026, Luxembourg's National Youth Service (SNJ), in collaboration with the National Audiovisual Centre (CNA), announced the launch of the sixteenth edition of the “Crème Fraîche” youth video competition.

Organised as part of the Luxembourg City Film Festival (LuxFilmFest), the competition invites young people aged twelve to 30 to showcase their creativity and filmmaking skills across three categories.

The first category, named “Video 90 – Wat ass dat Geräisch?” (What is that sound?), invites participants to create a 90-second video centred around a particular sound. The best entries will be screened at the Crème Fraîche event on Saturday 6 March 2027 at Kinepolis in Luxembourg-Kirchberg, where the audience will select three winners.

The second category, “Dréibuch 1.0 – Ee Geräisch am Mëttelpunkt” (a sound at the centre), focuses on screenwriting. Participants must develop a story in which a sound plays a central role. The SNJ will produce the winning screenplay in collaboration with its author.

The third category, “Zenario +: Fir déi mat méi Erfarung” (for those with more experience), targets young film graduates. Participants can submit a screenplay for a six- to nine-minute short film on a theme of their choice. The SNJ and CNA will produce the winning project under professional conditions and present it at the LuxFilmFest in 2028.

The deadline for submissions is Monday 8 February 2027. For further information and the full competition rules, visit www.creme-fraiche.lu.
