Luxembourg-based non-profit organisation LUkraine asbl has launched a Christmas fundraising campaign aimed at supporting Ukrainian women defenders.

"This Christmas season, we invite you to stand with the women who stand for Ukraine," LUkraine stated. "Teachers, doctors, students, mothers - today they serve on the frontline to protect freedom and dignity. And this winter, they need our support more than ever."

In a recorded message for the "Warm Her Courage!" campaign, Luxembourg's Minister of Defence, Yuriko Backes, reaffirmed the Grand Duchy's solidarity with Ukraine and its defenders, highlighting the importance of supporting women who are serving with courage: "Luxembourg stands with the women defending Ukraine. Together, we give them strength, protection and hope."

Donations will finance high-quality winter uniforms and tactical boots designed specifically for women. These items are produced in Ukraine by certified manufacturers and approved by the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine. One winter uniform costs €155 and includes: a water-repellent, windproof jacket; a deep insulated hood; warm, fleece-lined pockets; anatomical trousers for mobility and warmth; boot hooks and wind protection.

A pair of women's winter tactical boots costs €70. They are described as durable, offering protection against foot injuries and reliable grip in extreme conditions, including cold, snow and mud.

LUkraine emphasised the importance of this support, noting that:

  • over 68,000 women serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine;
  • 57,000 are already veterans;
  • more than 130,000 work in the security and defence sector.

"Every number is a real woman with a real story," the non-profit organisation added.

LUkraine also noted that every euro donated will be matched by Luxembourg's Directorate of Defence.
