On Tuesday 25 March 2025, Luxembourg’s national railway company, the CFL, reported that it donated a total of €10,000 to various local non-profit organisations as part of an internal initiative.
To mark the commercial launch of its first Coradia Stream High Capacity trains, the CFL Communications Department released a limited-edition miniature version of the “Lubrix” trains for internal sale; the CFL sold 130 of these miniature trains.
The CFL said that the initiative attracted “great interest” from its employees and so it decided to donate all proceeds to charitable and social organisations. CFL staff were invited to suggest non-profit organisations with which they are personally involved. As a result, the following eight organisations each received a €1,250 donation: Blëtz (supporting people affected by a stroke); Aide à l’Enfance de l’Inde et du Nepal (AEIN; working towards a more equitable society in India and Nepal); Lux-Lagos (supporting education, health and development in Lagos); Asile pour Animaux – Escher Déiereschutz (animal shelter in Esch-sur-Alzette); Association Luxembourg Alzheimer; Kindernothilfe Luxembourg (supporting children in the world’s poorest regions); Bright Foundation; Kannerduerf (children’s charity).
According to the CFL, the success of the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to values such as solidarity and volunteer engagement. “As a socially responsible company, we are committed to demonstrating solidarity in our daily actions,” stated CFL Director General Marc Wengler.
