On Wednesday 12 February 2025, SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde announced the formalisation of a partnership with EFG Bank Luxembourg, aimed at supporting vulnerable children worldwide.
According to the press release, on Wednesday 29 January 2025, Sophie Glesener, Director, and Anne Schweizer, Head of Partnerships at SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde, visited EFG Bank Luxembourg’s headquarters in the Ville Haute district of the capital.
Patrick Ramsey, Head of Continental and Middle East Region at EFG International, and Lena Lascari, CEO of EFG Bank Luxembourg, invited them for an initial meeting as the bank formalised a new partnership with the Luxembourg-based NGO, which has been supporting vulnerable children worldwide for 50 years.
During the meeting, Sophie Glesener and Anne Schweizer outlined the core objectives of SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde’s initiatives, with a particular focus on the educational programme that EFG Bank Luxembourg and its global private banking and asset management group have committed to supporting.
The initiative involves the construction of a co-educational secondary school for 500 students and a boarding facility for 50 young girls near the SOS Village in Aït Ourir, at the foot of the High Atlas Mountains.
This project is part of a larger reconstruction and rehabilitation effort launched following SOS Villages d’Enfants’ emergency response in Morocco to support the victims of the 2023 earthquake. The aim is to enhance access to quality education for vulnerable children in the region, particularly young girls who are often forced to drop out of school. Construction began in November 2024 and the foundations of the school were laid at the start of 2025.
As part of its involvement in this project, SOS Villages d’Enfants Monde has received the support of EFG International. During this recent meeting, representatives of EFG International made a donation of over €15,000 to the non-profit organisation.
