As part of Degroof Petercam Luxembourg's "Solidarity Days", three Stëmm vun der Strooss premises recently opened their doors to volunteers from the bank.
The Luxembourg non-profit organisation noted that this was the second year in a row that it has hosted groups of Degroof Petercam volunteers for several days. This year, the volunteer activities took place in the social restaurants in Luxembourg-Hollerich and Ettelbruck and in the Caddy vocational reintegration centre in Sanem.
At Caddy, the Stëmm teams welcomed five volunteers under the coordination of Maxime De Azevedo, graduate educator. The day began with a presentation on the situation in Yemen and the inspiring story of Hamed Bin Haidrah, a worker at Caddy. At lunchtime, an Eritrean speciality was prepared to highlight the occasion. This was followed in the afternoon by an exchange between the volunteers and two workers, who shared stories about their home countries of Serbia and Eritrea.
Afterwards, the volunteers took part in the activities in the kitchen and got to know the work carried out in this workshop at close quarters.
In the social restaurants, the volunteers helped to set up, decorate and serve the meals, much to the delight of the disadvantaged people present. In Ettelbruck, site manager Francesco Settanni also organised a solidarity market, offering clothing and school supplies to the beneficiaries. The volunteers thus enlivened this small market, but also helped with the barbecue and distributed free sausages.
The local non-profit, which works for the social and professional integration of disadvantaged people, said it was "proud to be able to count on such committed partners" and expressed its gratitude to the employees of Degroof Petercam Luxembourg.
