On Thursday 10 October 2024, the Philharmonie in Luxembourg-Kirchberg was the venue for the anniversary party celebrating the 50th anniversary for the organisation SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde.

The Gala Concert was held in the main auditorium which saw a full house, with the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess also attending, as well as other VIPs and members of the public.

The President of SOS Villages d'Enfants Monde, Anouk Agnes, addressed those attending in both French and English and referenced the 500 projects being undertaken in 90 countries, including supporting 90,000 people in different parts of Africa following a famine, support in Morocco after an earthquake and other notable projects. She emphasised: "No child should grow up alone".

Luxembourg's Prime Minister, Luc Frieden, also addressed the event in Luxembourgish and in French, before the screening of a short film that showcased some success stories of the organisation over the years, including a some recipients who are now working in Luxembourg.

The concert featured various musicians including Francesco Tristano on piano, followed by a children's choir who sang "Happy Birthday".

The organisation thanked everyone for their valuable support and commitment to vulnerable children and families around the world.

The event concluded with a Crémant reception and birthday cake.
