Caritas Luxembourg has announced that it is supporting Caritas Belgium and Caritas Germany in their efforts to assist flood victims there.

Faced with the scale of the recent natural disaster that has affected neighbouring countries and the desire of many Luxembourg residents to show solidarity with their close neighbors, Caritas Luxembourg has decided to support the efforts of the Caritas Belgium and Germany branches. While the first step is to cover the basic needs of people who have lost everything, it will then be necessary to provide financial assistance to the victims, so that they can quickly rebuild their devastated homes.

Caritas Belgium and Caritas Germany are already participating in the organisation of aid by distributing essential material to the affected populations but will need Luxembourg's solidarity to be able to help people return to normal life in the months to come.

Caritas Luxembourg has also recalled that people affected by the floods in Luxembourg can contact the organisation to request assistance from its national emergency fund. This assistance is complementary to the financial aid offered to private households by the State through the Ministry of Family Affairs and possible aid from insurance and social welfare offices. The non-profit can be contacted via tel.: 402131-1 or via email: urgence@caritas.lu.

Anyone wishing to show solidarity with the emergency aid actions of Caritas Luxembourg can make a donation by bank transfer to CCPL IBAN LU34 1111 0000 2020 0000 with the reference "Fonds d’urgence nationale" for Luxembourg aid and / or “Aide aux sinistrés des inondations en Allemagne et en Belgique” for assistance beyond national borders.
