Throughout 2020, Cactus raised a total of €53,359 for UNICEF Luxembourg through several solidarity actions.

Cactus has been supporting UNICEF Luxembourg for almost 20 years, and these donations, the fruit of solidarity actions carried out during 2020, reflect this commitment. The brand recently presented UNICEF officials with three cheques related to the Cactus Bëschlaf (forest run), the sale of solidarity orange juice from Cactus and the UNICEF's Wanteraktioun (winter action).

On 23 February 2020, Cactus' first solidarity run, the Cactus Bëschlaf, took place in the Kockelscheuer forest. For each registration, Cactus donated €2.50 to UNICEF Luxembourg. In total, Cactus was able to donate €5,000 to the NGO and will repeat this action in 2021 with the Cactus Run on 12 September in Bettembourg.

For each purchase of a one-litre carton of solidarity orange juice from the Cactus brand, 10 cents were donated for a good cause. This initiative raised a total of €10,770 in 2020. Just like the Cactus Bëschlaf donation, this sum will go towards the “Living Schools” education project in Malawi. The aim of this project is to provide future prospects for Malawian children by giving them access to a quality education and by showing them how to use, in a sustainable and ecological way, their country's resources. Donations will be used to provide drinking water, a school garden and solar equipment to supply the classrooms with electricity.

From 24 November to 6 December 2020, Cactus also showed its support for UNICEF Luxembourg through the Wanteraktioun campaign, the aim of which is to provide blankets and warm clothes to Syrian children. Cactus customers raised €18,294 during their checkout in stores. This sum is part of the total amount of €182,969 that UNICEF Luxemboug was able to collect as part of the 2020 winter action. The money will make it possible to distribute warm clothes and blankets to Syrian children, to help families heat their shelter and to buy essential goods and medicine. UNICEF is also heating schools to ensure children can continue their education during the winter months.

Thanks to all these solidarity actions organised throughout 2020 and the active participation of customers, Cactus was able to donate a total of €53,359 to UNICEF for children.
