Credit: Stëmm vun der Strooss
The Préizerdaul Youth Club has presented a cheque for €500 to Stëmm vun der Strooss, a Luxembourg non-profit association which supports homeless people and vulnerable members of society.
Every year shortly after the Epiphany, Préizerdaul Youth Club follows a tradition of collecting people's Christmas trees. This was also the case this year, despite the unusual health context. Typically, the club offers people a mulled wine or something similar as they pass by, after which the latter thank them with a voluntary donation. Whilst there was no free drink this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many people still left an envelope next to their Christmas tree.
Young people have suffered from the current restrictions because they are unable live out their youth as envisioned. And yet, the youth club continued to think of those who are worse off than they are, especially now. As such, the club decided to donate the money raised through this initiative to Stëmm vun der Strooss to help people who were in need even before the crisis and whose situation has certainly not improved as a result of this crisis and a harsh winter.
Préizerdaul Youth Club collected €211, a sum which it then rounded up to €500 to support Stëmm vun der Strooss in its efforts to acquire a covered and heated terrace for its social restaurant in Luxembourg-Hollerich.
